Szentmihályi Does Not Wish To Be Hungary’s Ambassador
Magyar Hírlap staff writer Péter Szabó Szentmihályi officially informed the Foreign Ministry on Friday that he does not wish to take any ambassadorial post.

The World Jewish Congress, the Anti-Defamation League and several opposition parties had objected to his mooted appointment as ambassador to Italy, due in part to an essay in 2000 in which Szentmihályi wrote that Jews are “agents of Satan”.

The Socialists and the Democratic Coalition pointed out that Szentmihályi was once a candidate for MP of the far-right Hungarian Justice and Life Party.
