Ukraine Crisis Hits Hungary’s Tourism Hard
- 17 Oct 2014 9:00 AM
The number of Russian tourists visiting western Europe is likely to drop by 20- 30% and Hungary is also likely to be affected, business daily Világgazdaság reported. The number of Russian guest nights in Hungary dropped 10% in August. Wizz Air recently adjusted flight capacities on the Budapest- Kiev and Budapest-Moscow services and at the same time launched a Kiev- Moscow flight on Sept. 30, the paper said.
If the number of Russian guest nights drops in the long term, the spa town Hévíz will be among the most affected destinations.
Local tourism services told the paper that a slight drop in Russian visitors is already noticeable though not yet significant.
