Hungarian Govt Eases Public Procurement Criteria To Help SMEs
Simpler criteria taking effect on Tuesday will help small and mediumsize ventures to opportunities in public procurement projects, Nándor Csepreghy, deputy state secretary at the prime minister’s office, said.

As an example for the changes, the official said that in future not only those companies can bid for a hospital construction that have built hospitals before, but any venture that has experience in building public institutions of a similar size.

As for the required references, it will be sufficient for bidders to attach statements in the bidding phase, while winners will be required to submit official certificates of their past projects at a later stage, Csepreghy said.

The simpler procedures will also ensure that more bidders participate in public procurement than before, which may make the actual projects cheaper, he added.
