Hungary's PM Orbán Takes On Readers’ Questions
Prime Minister Viktor Orbán answered questions, many of them hostile, posed by Blikk readers when he visited the tabloid’s offices on Tuesday. Several questions raised the topic of poverty, with one person asking how Orbán can sleep at night, while others objected to plans to restrict Sunday shopping.

On the latter issue, he said “We do not support any closure”, but “we want to achieve that no-one has to work on Sundays” and the regulation of commerce is a first step.

On the subject of poverty, he said poverty has been reduced due to economic growth in recent years, adding “this is a fact, and remains so even if you and I hear the contrary every day at high volume”.

In reply to a query about his relationship with CBA owner László Baldauf – who has a car reportedly worth €1 million – Orbán said Baldauf is a decent man, but not his “pal”.

Asked how it feels to be “the first Roma prime minister”, he said “I do not know. Do you think this is funny? Merry Christmas”.

Asked when he will resign, Orbán said “I have just been elected. Happy Christmas.”

Another reader asked why he views the Hungarian people as complete fools, to which Orbán answered “I do not view them that way. The cabinet is based on a culture of respect. Strength and good health.”

He did not respond to the accusation that Fidesz caucus leader Antal Rogán is “an ordinary criminal”.
