Discussion About The Syrian Revolution, Gólya Budapest, 1 March
- 27 Feb 2015 8:10 AM
With the help of our friend Félix Legrand from Paris - who worked for the Arab Reform Initiative and for the Initiative for New Syria, in the last three years, which were also present in Syria and tried to help the non-islamic resistance - we will try to reconstruct the process how could a grass roots insurrection be organised against a ruthless dictator, in a country, where any form of civil society was very limited - and how the so-called Islamic State intervened in this situation, adding more to the chaos and atmosphere of distrust.
We also aim to show how different international and regional actors seek(ed) to manipulate the outcome of the revolution, and what kind of pressures, limits (and chaos) derived from this situation. We will reach the contradictions and possibilities of the newly formed Kurdish alternative in the north, and we organise an open discussion, where the audience is more than welcomed to ask question and add comments.
The speaking partner of Félix will be Szőllőssy Balázs, the editor in chief of Fent és Lent, who spent almost one year in Turkey along the Syrian border."
The discussion will be in English, starting at 7pm.
