Budapest Airport Reports Record Traffic
Budapest Airport registered an annual 10.8% increase in traffic last month, with 840,486 passengers arriving and departing from the facility, an all-time high for the month of April. The rise in traffic was twice that of the EU average. In the first four months, passenger traffic increased 12.1% year-on-year, while airlines reported average seat occupancy of 78.8%.

The strong figures came as airlines added new routes to their schedules and some larger aircraft made their Budapest début.

New flights by Wizz Air began to Lisbon and Vuelings to Rome helped lift the April figures, Napi Gazdaság adds.

Air China began flying between Beijing and Budapest this month.

Wizz Air will open a new link to Maastricht tomorrow and to Egyptian resort destination Hurghada on Friday.

Air Transat will start inter-continental flights linking Budapest with Toronto and Montreal next month.
