Hungarian Econ Ministry Expects 20,000 Students In Vocational Training
The economy ministry is expecting the number of students taking part in vocational training to grow from 50,000 to 70,000 over the next four years, a ministry deputy state secretary told public news channel M1. The economic chamber is prepared to expand the number of companies involved in vocational training from the current 8,000 to 20,000, László Obrodina said.

Starting from the next school year, students will no longer get to choose whether to do a training course or get hands-on experience at a company, the deputy state secretary said.

Training courses will only be available if the chamber can verify that there are no more openings for them at companies.

The government is aiming to expand the number of companies involved in the programme by offering various sweeteners, Obrodina said. SMEs will be able to write off the instructors’ wage contributions, while corporations will automatically be given government support for operating their workshops, he added.
