Expat Event: Australian Film Club, Muszi Budapest, 19 September
This will be the 50th event of the local Australian Film Club since it began in 2010. During this time they've showed several Aussie classics and lesser-known "cult" movies, and managed to forge a dedicated group of fans, including many people who have tangible ties to Australia.

What is more, in the past 12-15 months organisers created a little more buzz around the film club, which resulted in having new faces attending, some of whom became regulars.

So now the 50th occasion has come, marking a turning point in the history of this expat film club. With this screening, it's moving to a new venue, Művelődési Szint (Müszi), not far from Örökmozgó Filmmúzeum. (It's pretty remarkable that it could stay in one place for 5 years.)

MÜSZi's openness to a younger generation of people and their stronger connection to Internet media (e.g. port.hu) is expected to boost our popularity and bring along more fans.

Furthermore, the different technical conditions will enable screenings of more "rare" pieces, increasing diversity. As a bonus, the venue has a bar and a larger area to socialize, so members won't have to look for a place to go "after hours".

To celebrate this change, the 50th event will be somewhat different to usual. Organisers say: "We decided to break the tradition by showing 3 films back-to-back, and looking at the titles we found that Mad Max hasn't yet made an appearance on our screen.

To make up for this omission, we're going to screen the original trilogy in all its fuel-injected glory so you'll be able to see what made ol' Mel famous back in the day."

Tickets will cost 600 HUF/person/film, so if you decide to stay all along, it means 1800 HUF. The films start at 16.00, 18.00 and 20.00, respectively, with roughly 30-minute intermissions in-between.

Date and time: 19 September at 16:00–22:30

Venue: Művelődési Szint (Müszi)
Address: 1085 Budapest, Blaha Lujza tér 1.
