Arsonists Attack Roma House In Hungary
- 30 Dec 2015 8:00 AM
The house of a Roma family who intend to move to a part of Gyöngyöspata where non-Roma live was set on fire on Christmas Eve, the Roma Press centre reported on Tuesday. The family had bought a house in need of renovation in the central part of the village in Heves county.
A few days later someone painted Meghalsz (“You will die”) on the house, before someone set fire to it last Thursday night while the family celebrated Christmas in a neighbouring village.
The family had not yet moved in to the house, but had unloaded their furniture.
By the time fire-fighters put out the blaze, one of the rooms and the roof had been severely damaged.
An investigation is under way.
