Big Plans For Nyugati & Déli Railway Stations In Budapest

Rail lines leading to Nyugati station will be taken underground and the station rebuilt, Prime Minister’s Office leader János Lázár announced at his Thursday press conference. The reconfiguration will be part of the Liget2 project, which will redesign the area between the train station and the Budapest zoo.
The Prime Minister’s Office will prepare a concept before the cabinet meeting on February 10.
In addition, the cabinet is asking the Development Ministry to present a proposal for the permanent closure of the Déli train station in Buda, Lázár said.
The proposal should also discuss the possibility of creating a park on the site.
