Fidesz Demands Probe Over Hungary’s Migration Aid’s Former Leader
The ruling Fidesz party demands an answer from Migration Aid, a charity helping migrants in Hungary, on whether a man associated with the charity had a criminal record, the party’s spokesman János Halász said. Citing a report by the online tabloid Ripost published on Monday, Halász said Csaba Tóth, alias Baba, who allegedly had been in a top position at Migration Aid, one of the largest migrant charities, was a repeat offender.

The report also claimed that Migration Aid was linked to George Soros, the Hungarian-born US billionaire.

Fidesz demands an investigation from Migration Aid, as the case “has grave risks in terms of national security,” he said, adding that Fidesz also wanted to know “whether Soros’s foundation had knowledge of this”.

Halász declined to take questions after the press conference. Attending the event in the audience Zsuzsanna Zsohár, former spokeswoman for Migration Aid, however said that “Csaba Tóth alias Baba does not represent our organisation (Migration Aid). (...) Baba has not worked with us for a long time,” she said, adding that Migration Aid had no links with George Soros.
