Bakondi: Hungary Looking Into Reported CIA Terror Alert
- 5 Apr 2016 9:00 AM
The paper cited unofficial press reports in its Monday issue as the source of its information. It said that in a warning sent in mid-March the CIA spoke about the possibility of parallel terror threats “during mass events” in those three cities, among others.
Bakondi said the Hungarian government had not received any official information regarding any threats and only knew about the suggested threat from the Polish daily itself. He said the government takes any information about a potential threat seriously and “does not think that there cannot be further terrorist threats”.
He added that authorities are doing everything possible in the interest of protecting the public.
Asked if Hungary’s terror threat level would be raised, Bakondi said this would be premature, but added that the government is seeking further information before making a decision.
