Slovakia and Norwegian writer Jostein Gaarder will be the guests of honour at this year’s Budapest International Book Festival held between April 21 and 24, an organiser said. Slovakia will present the Hungarian edition of volumes by 30 Slovak authors released by 18 publishers, the director of the Slovak Literary Information Centre told a press conference.

The titles include history books, contemporary literature, novels, collected stories and poems, children’s books, as well as cookbooks, said Miroslava Vallova.

There will be 40 Slovak authors participating at the festival where Slovakia will offer 50 programmes for visitors, she said. Parallel to the main event a mini festival presenting young European debut writers from 18 countries will also be held.
