Poll Suggests Successful Referendum
Nearly 90% of those Hungarians who said they will vote in the government referendum reject the mandatory quota system of the EU, according to a poll conducted by the Fidesz-linked Századvég Foundation. The majority of respondents, 54%, said they will vote and a further 18% said they will probably take part in the referendum.

Another 17% of the respondents said they would definitely not turn out and 9% said they probably would not.

Some 87% of those who will take part would vote against the distribution of refugees and 11% would vote in favour.

Only 2% of respondents are undecided or refused to provide an answer.

The poll was conducted by telephone between last Wednesday and Sunday among 1,000 randomly selected adults.

The margin of error is 3.2% either way.
