In the new indoor facility, several new pools were built, as well as a geothermal sauna, which is the first of its kind in Hungary. The bath employs a heat pump system, which uses the drained thermal water for heating.
n order for the bath to operate all year round, 40-50 new employees are to be hired. The bath’s daily capacity has increased from 3 thousand to 5 thousand. A new car park was built next to the bath which can now provide parking space for 190 cars instead of the previous 40, said László Szőke.
Paskál Bath uses the same thermal water as the Széchenyi Baths, and one of their goals is to get more of the Széchenyi’s guests to visit Paskál. Moreover, Dagály Bath is closing down in September, hence the need for a bath which stays open all year round. If everything goes according to plan, the developments at Palatinus Bath, which began in 2015, will be completed next spring, and the mechanical improvements of the Széchenyi Baths will be finished at the end of this year as well.
The Budapest baths constitute the main touristic attraction of the city, László Szőke emphasized. Last year, 60% of the 3.5 million foreign tourists, that is, more than 2 million people visited one of the baths during their holiday in Budapest. Photo: MTI
