Hungary To Launch Nation Wide Colon - Rectal Screening In Mid-2017

Hungary will launch a 7 billion forint (EUR 22.2m) nationwide colon-rectal cancer screening programme next year, health officials said. It aims to reach out to 2.5 million men and women aged between 50 and 70, they told a press conference.
There are 10,000 colon-rectal cancer cases diagnosed in Hungary each year and 5,000 die from the disease, the deputy chief medical officer said.
Tailored screening is overdue since the first pilot schemes were designed in 1997, Attila Kovács said, adding that half of GPs have indicated that they will participate.
