Archaeological Trove Unveiled
National Museum archaeologist Gergely Szenthe yesterday presented unparalleled archaeological finds from the Hun era discovered in Hungary earlier this year.

The 125 pieces, many of them gold and silver, may have been buried with a prominent person sometime in 420-50 A.D.

Gábor Ehrmann, a heating installer, found the gold and silver objects in dry grasses in February. He thought they were beer cans at first, but when he picked them up, he realised that he had something quite different.

In presenting the sensational finds at the National Museum, neither Szenthe nor Ehrmann would say where the items were discovered.

Restoration work is under way so as to be able to prepare the objects for public display.
