‘Golden Jerusalem’ Photo Exhibition Opens In Budapest
Hungary’s state secretary for religious, ethnic and social affairs addressed the opening of a photo exhibition entitled Golden Jerusalem in the Israeli Cultural Institute in Budapest, organised by the Unified Hungarian Israelite Congregation (EMIH) and the Jewish Agency for Israel.

Miklós Soltész told the gathering that Jerusalem today is the centre of three world religions and it would be a mistake to question thousands of years of religion or pour doubt over the existence of one religion or the other in the holy city. He also said it is incumbent on everyone “to reverse the current crisis of values in some way”.

Israel’s new ambassador to Budapest Yossi Amrani said at the event that for Jews, Israel’s capital city is Jerusalem. It is the centre of Jewish life and it would be good were the international community to accept this.

Rabbi Slomó Köves, EMIH’s chief, said that several statements had been made on the global stage in the past two months questioning the connection between

Jews and Jerusalem, and for this reason it was decided to mount the current exhibition in order to draw attention to the need not to lose sight of the city’s historical journey.
