The GPs stated in their complaint that regulations on their operation were discriminatory and allowed only disproportionate financing compared with general practitioners serving designated areas, Terézia Józsa told MTI in a statement.

The regulation allowing only disproportionately low public financing which disregards performance seriously violates the principle of equal treatment, the statement said.

As the financing for these special GPs has not increased over the past several years, they have not been able to develop their services, which puts their patients at risk, it added.

There are around 250 special GPs catering for about a quarter of a million patients registered with them. Part of these GPs are contracted by law enforcement, tax and customs and disaster management institutions.
