The government has launched a scholarship programme to encourage young people to work in Hungary’s health-care system, the state secretary in charge of the sector said.
Zoltán Ónodi-Szűcs said that the programme will use a total of 4.4 billion (EUR 14.52m) forints and provide scholarships to 3,200 students in medical secondary schools. Participants in the programme will receive up to 40,000 forints a month over a period of 55 months, he added.
Having completed their training, participants will be required to work in public health for as long as they have received the scholarships, the state secretary said.
The government aims to increase the number of highly qualified professionals in the public health-care system, Ónodi-Szűcs said.
