It said the Ft 22 billion project can be completed in two and half years.

The project cannot start before a public procurement tender process is completed and a contract with the winner has been signed.

The Budapest Transport Centre said earlier that heritage protection authorities had to be consulted about the reconstruction plans because the bridge and the tunnel are part of a World Heritage site.
