Natl Road Company Takes Over Upkeep Of Interurban Cycle Paths
Hungary’s government has decided to assign the upkeep of some 1,100km of interurban cycle paths to state-owned road company Magyar Közút, the government’s commissioner for cycling and active recreation said.

Last year, Magyar Közút was allocated additional funding of 2 billion forints (EUR 6.5m) for cycle path upkeep, and it is getting a further 1 billion this year, said Máriusz Révész.

The government has also allocated 3.6 billion forints for cycle path construction, clearing the way for projects that already have permits, he said.

The funding will support the construction of eleven stretches with a total length of almost 68km, he added.
