The post said the public media's interim management has secured a significant discount on the participation fee and a deadline extension from the contest's organisers.
Andras Horvath, public media's interim director general, has held talks with Eurovision organisers and indicated that participation is a strategic decision that must be made by the public media's permanent leadership once it is in place, the post said.
An agreement has been reached on a substantial reduction in the public media's entry fee, and the organisers have offered a goodwill extension until Dec 7 for the submission deadline, it added.
The final decision on participating in the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest will be made by the public media's permanent management after approval by the Independent Public Media Body, the post said.
Hungary participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 17 times between 1994 and 2019, reaching the final on 14 occasions.
