Tarlós: Next Phase Of Metro 3 Upgrade Likely To Be Signed In July
The Budapest city council expects in July to sign construction contracts for upgrading the central and southern sections of Budapest’s third metro line pending the success of the project to date, Budapest Mayor István Tarlós said.

The city council is working hard to make sure wheelchair accessibility improvements go ahead at metro 3 stations. Talks with the Equal Treatment Authority and representation groups for people with disabilities are ongoing, he said.

Plans are to install 12 elevators over the course of the upgrade in addition to one being considered for Kálvin Square, Tarlós noted, adding that improving accessibility depended on money and technical considerations as much as good intentions.
