Local Opinion: Hungarian Independent Conservative Weekly Relaunched
Editors of the former Heti Válasz weekly which was shut down last summer launched Válasz Online on Monday. Former Hungarian President László Sólyom welcomes the relaunching of the moderate conservative online news outlet.

In an opinion piece on Válasz Online, former President László Sólyom hopes that the new outlet will find its place in the Hungarian media landscape.

Sólyom reckons that it will be very difficult for the moderate conservative news outlet, which will focus on in-depth reporting and analysis with a relatively small staff, to remain solvent in today’s high frequency online media environment.

Sólyom nonetheless thinks that Válasz Online’s mission to publish sober and non-sectarian analysis is very much needed when, as he sees it, the media is dominated by propagandistic outlets creating alternative realities.
