Local Opinion: Pro-Government View On Brexit In Hungary
A conservative analyst regrets that with Brexit, Hungary is losing an ally in debates within the European Union. She also finds it worrying that Britain’s withdrawal from the European Union will apparently take place in chaotic conditions.

Magyar Hírlap’s Mariann Őry recalls that the prime ministers of Hungary and the United Kingdom were the only  EU leaders who voted against appointing Jean-Claude Juncker as President of the European Commission, as they knew that he didn’t favour a Union based on strong nation-states.

Both David Cameron and Viktor Orbán opposed what she calls ‘the sneaking expansion of the power of EU institutions’. Őry also thinks that Brexit is to a large extent Brussels’ fault, as encroachments on national sovereignty were among the reasons that pushed Britons to leave the Union.

She doesn’t believe that the blunders in the withdrawal process will make Brexit reversible and finds it pathetic that just over two months before deadline, Britain’s leaders still have more questions than answers about what shape Brexit will take.
