Update: Highest Heat Alert Issued In Hungary Until Sunday
After days of increasing temperatures in Hungary, officials have declared a level 3 heat alert, the highest available. Such an alert is activated when the average daily mid-temperature reaches or exceeds 27ºC (80ºF).

According to the Hungarian Meteorological Serviceʼs (OMSZ) forecast, the weather will remain hot with peak temperatures between 30-37ºC until at least Sunday.

The Chief Medical Officer, of the National Public Health Centre says that during the heat alert, everyone should consume more liquid than usual while refraining from drinking coffee, alcohol, high-caffeine or sugary drinks and eating greasy foods.

According to the recommendation, people should stay indoors from 11 am to 3 pm, should avoid strenuous activity and direct sunlight; wear loose, lightweight clothing; and never leave people or pets in a closed vehicle.
