Latest Sewage Results Suggest Covid Fading In Budapest
Wastewater testing for indications of coronavirus levels has shown a decreasing trend in most Hungarian cities, according to the National Centre for Public Health (NNK).

Levels have fallen in Budapest and its surroundings, as well as in Békéscsaba, Kecskemét, Székesfehérvár and Szolnok, but have increased in Debrecen and Nyíregyháza.

Levels were unchanged in other large cities where there has been a low to moderate concentration, namely Eger, Győr, Kaposvár, Miskolc, Pécs, Salgótarján, Szeged, Szekszárd, Szombathely, Tatabánya, Veszprém and Zalaegerszeg.

The examination of sewage makes it possible to monitor the spread of the virus in larger communities.

An increase in concentration detected in wastewater can predict an increase in the number of Covid-19 cases four to ten days in advance.
