Hungary and Russia will further strengthen their cooperation in health-care development, said Kásler of the Human Resources Ministry over the weekend.

Minister Miklós Kásler held talks with Mikhail Murashko, the Russian health minister in Budapest, discussing the testing of Russia’s Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine and the importance of the Central and Eastern European Academy of Oncology, the ministry said in a statement.

Hungarian experts will have the opportunity to analyse the Russian vaccine at WHO-accredited Russian laboratories as soon as next week, it added.

Kásler expressed his appreciation to Murashko that Hungary was the first country to receive samples of the vaccine, which is already undergoing testing.

Kásler stressed that only a vaccine that is guaranteed to be effective and safe would be distributed in Hungary.

He also talked about the mission and importance of the Central and Eastern European Academy of Oncology.

With the involvement of Russian health professionals, the academy can rely on a group of excellent experts, the minister said.

The parties also plan to boost cooperation in the application of information technology in health care such as telemedicine solutions, the ministry said.
