It is primarily due to customised courses operating in Hungary that Roma members have obtained degrees, since 2011, he said.
There are now 11 specialised colleges in Hungary for Roma. This year 327 disadvantaged students, primarily Roma are in specialised colleges.
In these institutions the students, apart from receiving accommodation, can take part in lessons aimed at developing their skills, in language classes, and in cultural events.
They are also mentored and can apply for scholarship projects.
An advancement programme of the Education Office called Bari Shej (Big Girl) has recently ended, in which the studies of 2,000 Roma girls and women were supported through personal mentoring for two years.
The mentored girls took part in classes presenting them future careers, and mentors provided advice on how to study and how to lead their life.
