Extra Suburban Rail Services to Run in Budapest During Sziget Festival
- 10 Aug 2026 11:11 AM
During the festival, HEV suburban trains from Batthyany Square will run continuously with high capacity, meaning passengers can board six-carriage trains.
The increased schedule will ensure access to and safe return from Obuda's Hajogyari Island not only during the day but also at night, it added.
After concerts, trains will run every five minutes on average between 11pm and 1am on the Budapest section, while some additional services will operate only between Batthyany Square and Aquincum, with trains to Szentendre still running every 20 minutes.
The statement noted that a major concert attracting tens of thousands will take place on the island on Saturday evening, and the easiest way to get there is by H5 HEV or tram line 1. HEV services will be increased from 1pm, and from 4pm trains will run every five minutes towards Filatorigat.
After a short walk from Filatorigat, the island can be reached via the K Bridge, it added.
Detailed timetables, transfer points, and ticket purchase options are available in the MAVPlusz app and on the MAV group's official website, the statement said.
