Ikea Ups Revenues & Plans To Invest In Hungary
Despite the difficult market environment caused by the coronavirus epidemic, IKEA revenues expanded by 8.5% year-on-year to Ft 98 billion, the subsidiary of the Swedish furniture and home design chain announced on Thursday.

The average value of online orders of Ft 57,000 was three times higher than the average purchase made in stores.

The number of visitors came to 6.2 million in 2020, of whom 3.5 million were actual purchasers.

The number of employees was increased by 13% last year.

IKEA sold 1.8 million hot dogs and 830,000 servings of Swedish meatballs.

The epidemic and social distancing have caused a significant change in customer habits in favour of online shopping, regional sales director Mounia El Hilali said, adding that e-commerce revenues doubled from 2019.

IKEA is planning to invest Ft 21 billion in Hungary in the next three years, mostly in expanding online sales and establishing three new delivery points in southwestern, central and eastern Hungary.
