Covid Update: 82,127 Active Cases, 102 New Deaths In Hungary
2,855 new cases were confirmed. The number of people infected with the coronavirus in Hungary now stands at 410,129. The number of deaths stands at 14,552 while the number of those recovered now stands at 313,450.

82,127 is the number of active infected, 4,353 patients are hospitalized, 407 of them are on ventilators.

So far, 471,004 people have been vaccinated, of which 208,846 have already received their second vaccination.

From today, GPs will start vaccinating with the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine, each GP can vaccinate an average of 50-55 registered elderly people, and will continue to vaccinate chronic patients under the age of 60 with the AstraZeneca vaccine, which can vaccinate 10 people per practice. Hospital vaccination sites will continue to vaccinate registered seniors with the Pfizer vaccine in the second half of the week.

Like many European countries, Hungary was hit by the third wave of the epidemic. The British virus mutant is spreading rapidly across Europe, infecting more people and increasing the number of patients. Therefore, vaccination is now even more important and we continue to ask for protection measures to be followed.

The government is of the opinion that restrictions can only be lifted gradually and responsibly, and it also seeks the opinion of the people.

On the proposal of the government, the Parliament on Monday approved the extension of the emergency ordered due to a coronavirus epidemic. With this, the Parliament created a legal opportunity for the government to further effectively defend itself, to protect the life and health of the Hungarian people, and to reduce economic damage and preserve jobs.

Only vaccines that are effective and safe according to the Hungarian authorities and have been used in several countries have been and may be used in Hungary.

The curfew is still in place between 8pm and 5am, so everyone has to get home by 8pm. One case of exemption from the curfew is work, which, however, needs to be justified. Police strictly monitor compliance with the rules, impose fines, and close places where regulations are not followed. Soldiers support police work in several cities across the country and relieve the burden on health workers in the hospital.
