Budapest Semmelweis University Rises in World Rankings

Semmelweis University is ranked among the 300 best higher education institutions in the world in the 2022 survey by the UK’s Times Higher Education Supplement, achieving the highest ranking of any Hungarian university.

Semmelweis University has advanced 149 places in the international rankings since last year’s 426th place, having improved in all its indicators. The institution is now placed in the 250-300 range.

The ranking takes into account the educational environment, research, citation, industry revenue, and international outlook.

The indicator of education increased the most, and in three areas – education, citation, and international outlook – it is among the top 25%.

Eleven Hungarian universities were included in the 1,662 higher education institutions ranked.

Among the universities included in the top 1,000, Eötvös Loránd University is in the 601-800 range, while the University of Pécs, the University of Debrecen, and the University of Szeged are in the 801-1,000 range.
