Gold & Silver Exploration Permit Wanted by Hungarian Firm
A gold and silver mine in the Börzsony hills, Nógrád county, could reopen, business daily Világgazdaság reported Friday.

Mining company Hun-Bányászat Kutatási, Fejlesztési és Innovációs has requested test drills from the Mining and Geological Survey. In calculations submitted to the authority last year, the company estimated that the Nagyirtáspuszta site contains 1,076 tons of gold and 909 tons of native silver.

Reserves in Rózsabánya contain 19 tons of gold and 99 tons of silver, according to its estimates.

The area has been an exploration site for precious metals since the 1200s.
