Watch: Why Pensioner Set Himself on Fire in Gov't Office in Hungary
The man who committed suicide by setting himself on fire in a Veszprém government office on Monday was facing a fine that he believed he was unable to pay, Blikk reports.

The 74-year-old had been fined because two of his dogs attacked and bit a local woman. The animals were found to be neither vaccinated against rabies nor to have an electronic identification tag.

A neighbour said the deceased believed he had to pay a fine of Ft 1.5 million, while his income was only Ft 30,000 a month.

However, the Veszprém government office said it had imposed two fines of Ft 15,000 each, and that the man had been informed about the instalment payment option.
