New Hotel Oktogon Opens in Budapest's Haggenmacher Palace
The new Hotel Oktogon has opened in the historically protected Haggenmacher Palace at Andrássy út 52, Forbes reports.

The building which opened in 1883, was designed by Henrik Schmahl, who also designed the Párisi udvar and the Uránia film theatre.

A 318m2 six-room flat on the second floor hosted a sub-library of the Szabó Ervin Capital Library in 1934-2018.

CD Hungary, a company owned by Sándor Csányi, István Garancsi and Zsolt Hernádi, was the investor in the project. It already operates the Hotel Moments at Andrássy út 8.

The Sixth District exchanged the buildings hosting these two hotels for properties valued at Ft 309 million in 2005. The investors later paid an additional Ft 270 million for the library.
