The exhibition is open to visitors until 26 October. A new exhibition titled “An Italian in Pest – Giacomo Marastoni and the First Hungarian Academy of Painting” opens this Thursday at the Castle Museum of the Budapest History Museum. Many of the artist’s works will be on view in Budapest for the very first time.
The 1956 Hungarian Revolution was a spontaneous nationwide revolt against Soviet control, sparked by student protests on October 23. Demanding freedom and independence, Hungarians briefly overthrew the communist regime before Soviet forces crushed the uprising.
The Hungarian Pavilion captivated more than one million visitors at the 2025 Osaka World Expo. Statistics show Hungary’s participation was a resounding success, offering a unique interpretation of the Expo’s central theme by focusing on tradition, the harmony between humanity and nature, and the idea of building the future upon the values of the past.
The special meeting of two unique Hungarian instruments, the tárogató and the cimbalom, is the focus of the joint concert by Zoltán Erdő, Jenő Lisztes and Anima Musicae, which will be held at the Pesti Vigadó to mark the occasion of World Music Day.
