Memento Park

Located outdoors in Budafok, this museum brings the history of the dictatorial regime between 1945 and 1989 into focus. It contains 41 monumental statues that were originally erected across the capital during the 20th century to promote communist ideology.

Following the change of regime, they were collected here to expose the reality of party propaganda and mark the downfall of that era.

For an extra touch of nostalgia, visitors can rent or take a tour in an original East German Trabant, which was once the most popular car for ordinary Hungarian families. 

Millennium Underground Museum


Tucked away in the Deák Ferenc Square underpass next to the BKK ticket office, this exhibition highlights continental Europe's oldest underground railway.

Located inside an authentic old tunnel section of the "Small Underground," the museum displays original plans, maps, models, and construction logs alongside historical 19th and 20th-century train carriages that visitors can step inside.

Budapest Retro Interactive Museum

This multi-story museum offers an interactive look at Hungarian life between 1960 and 1999. Visitors can sit inside a vintage Lada police car, try out newsreading in a period-accurate studio, explore a recreated apartment from the era, and sample retro sweets and drinks at the on-site bistro.

The Pinball Museum

Further into the world of vintage gaming, the Pinball Museum features more than 160 machines across 400 square meters.

The collection includes the world’s very first pinball machine alongside various pop-culture themed games from universes like Star Wars, The Simpsons, and Indiana Jones, most of which are fully playable.
