Modernization of Hungary’s Long-Distance Railway Passenger Transport Fleet Announced
The government has decided to replace more than two-thirds of the long-distance fleet of MÁV-Start IC, the passenger unit of Hungarian State Railways (MÁV), and contribute to the financing of 50 new locomotives, according to business daily Világgazdaság.

This will bring MÁV to a new level in long-distance transport, but the arrival of the new locomotives and carriages may not be until the end of 2025 at the earliest.

The newly published official Magyar Közlöny [Hungarian Gazette] contains a government decision on the modernization of the railway passenger transport vehicle fleet, which opens a new era in the history of MÁV, the business daily added.
