Doctors in Hungary May Be Forced to Work in State Sector

Doctors working exclusively in private practice would be required to work 20 hours a month at a state healthcare institution in the future, according to a draft decree uploaded to the government’s website.
Medical sector observer Zsombor Kunetz drew attention to the plan on Facebook.
He wrote that all specialist doctors must renew their licence every five years, and that they could previously complete the necessary work experience even in private practice.
“This means that the government is trying to force doctors who have fled to the private sector back to the state sector”, he said, adding “This is as if a private teacher of English were forced to teach in a state school for 20 hours a month in order to become a private teacher”.
