Fewer Ukrainian Refugees Seek Residence Status in Hungary

Temporary protection status allows the refugees to receive healthcare and take jobs, and allows their children to attend public school.
The number of registrants in Hungary has steadily declined, from 7,075 last March, in line with the trend in other countries, according to EU data.
Poland granted temporary protection status to more refugees than any other country in December, at 31,860, followed by Germany at 25,110 and Romania at 11,260.
Poland has granted protected status to 956,760 people since Russia invaded Ukraine, ahead of Germany at 936,375 and the Czech Republic with 431,310.
