Mystery Disappearance: Kalashnikov Ammo Machine is Missing in Hungary
A production line for the manufacture of ammunition for Kalashnikov rifles imported from Turkey five years ago has gone missing, news website 24 learned from Csaba Papp, the owner of the importing company.

Borsodi Általános Gépgyár (BSGÉP) bought the ammunition manufacturing machine in 2018, but lost its trade license for military technology, so it had to place the production line in the NAV customs warehouse, from where it has disappeared.

Papp, was informed by NAV that the machine had already been "taken out" from the customs warehouse in 2018.

Because of this, Papp filed a complaint for embezzlement and abuse of official position by the Budapest Government Office which may order the removal of stock from the warehouse.

There is great interest in ammunition nowadays, as Ukraine is constantly struggling with a shortage of ammunition, and the EU has also announced that production capacities should be expanded.

Working in three shifts, the machine can produce 75 million cartridges a year, meaning Ft 52 billion.

As the production cost is low, at around €0.30, the owner of the machine could expect an annual profit of Ft 44 billion.
