The shooting of the film is set for Fall 2023 in Budapest.
Esteemed producer Barry Navidi is heading the project, with the screenplay penned by Jerzy Kromolowski and Mary Kromolowski. The film will be directed by Johnny Depp and feature cinematography by Nicola Pecorini.
The cast includes Riccardo Scamarcio as Amedeo Modigliani, Pierre Niney as French artist Maurice Utrillo, and Al Pacino as international art collector Gangnat. The film’s casting is being overseen by Sharon Howard-Field.
“Modi” will follow the life of Amedeo Modigliani during his time in Paris in 1916. The biopic will focus on a tumultuous 48-hour period in which Modigliani finds himself on the run from the police through the streets and bars of war-torn Paris.
As he contemplates ending his career and leaving the city, his fellow bohemians, including Maurice Utrillo, Belarusian-born Chaim Soutine, and his English muse and lover, Beatrice Hastings, dismiss the idea.
Modigliani seeks advice from his Polish art dealer and friend, Leopold Zborowski, but his life takes a dramatic turn when he encounters a collector who could change everything.
With the collaboration of production companies Infinitum Nihil, IN.2 Films, Salome Productions, Barry Navidi Productions, and The Veterans, “Modi” promises to be a captivating exploration of the life and struggles of the iconic artist Amedeo Modigliani.
