Multiple events will be held at both Erzsébet Park in Esztergom and along Sétáló Street in Párkány to celebrate the occasion.

The Esztergom programme runs from 26–27 September, and includes concerts by Fonó Band, Cimbaliband, aurevoir. and Péter Geszti, as well as theatre performances. An ABBA and Boney M. show will also feature among the weekend's entertainment.

There will be plenty for families, including an exhibition about the history of the bridge, Park Cinema, creative workshops, literary games, a fairy-tale trail and dog demonstrations. Children's activities include face painting and linoleum printing, while a food court will operate throughout the festival.

In Párkány, the programme begins on 25 September with presentations at the Cultural Center exploring the history of the bridge through films.

The following day, Sétáló Street will host a craft fair, outdoor exhibition and autumn playhouse, while the Párkány City Museum presents an exhibition titled The Forgotten Bridge. Theatre and live music will also be part of the programme.

The anniversary celebrations will also feature the Mária Valéria Bridge Run and Walk on 26 September. The 4-kilometre route starts at St. Stephen's Square in front of the Esztergom Basilica, continues through the city centre and across the bridge, and finishes at the Vadas Thermal Baths in Párkány.

Participants can choose to run or walk the route, note that registration is required online via the Esztergomi Triatlon Cultural & Recreational Sports Association.

Quick Bridge History

The Mária Valéria Bridge first opened in 1895 and was twice severely damaged during the 20th century. It became unusable in 1919 and, following restoration, was destroyed again in December 1944. More than five decades later, the bridge was rebuilt and reopened to traffic in 2001.

Since then, it has come to represent the strong connection between Esztergom and Párkány, as well as the close cultural, historical and community ties between Hungary and Slovakia.
