Old Budapest Chain Bridge Candelabras Sold - How Much & Where Will Money Go?
The 14 candelabras that formerly adorned the Chain Bridge have been sold at auction for a total of Ft 51 million.

There were six bidders at the auction. Two clients bought four candelabras each and the others one or two, the tabloid Blikk reported in the wake of the website enbudapestem.hu.

Bids were accepted for a total of 14 candelabras, in various physical condition.

The city will donate the proceeds to Berehove, a twin city in Ukraine, to support the local hospital there, in particular development projects aimed at helping the rehabilitation of soldiers returning from the front.

An additional 34 candelabras that cannot be used on the renovated Chain Bridge will be given to state or local council-run institutions, mainly museums.

Prague, also a sister city, will receive two candelabras and six will be placed in the renovated City Hall Park.
