US Ambassador & Orbán’s Wife Visit Needy Families in Hungarian Countryside
US ambassador David Pressman and Hungarian goodwill ambassador Anikó Lévai, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s wife, visited a home for needy families together in Szolnok on Monday, the US embassy said in a statement.

They visited the Families Transitional Home operated by the Ecumenical Aid Organisation, where Lévai spoke about her work with the organisation and took Pressman around the shelter before he attended a Christmas performance given by local residents.

Pressman said it was a real honour to visit Szolnok and see the incredible work that the Ecumenical Aid Organisation is doing for the most vulnerable.

It was particularly wonderful to make this trip in the company of such an exceptional personality as Anikó Lévai, he added.

Pressman and Lévai then met with leaders of the Ecumenical Aid Organisation to discuss the work of the organisation and regional challenges.

Meanwhile in Budapest, Needy Stand in Long Lines for Hot Meals

The Ecumenical Aid Organisation’s traditional Advent and Christmas charity event began yesterday in Csepel, Budapest’s 21st District.

The organisation and volunteers will distribute 1,000 portions of hot meals every day for six days during December 17-22 to homeless people and needy families.

The needy formed a long line in Csepel for hot meals of stew, rice and pickles as well as bread, cakes, fruit and Christmas candy in a decorated and heated tent.

Olympic champion kayaker Rudolf Dombi and actress Léda Mezei worked as volunteers to help distribute the meals on the first day.

The E.ON Hungária Group is supporting the first two days of the distribution of hot meals with Ft 5.6 million.
