Physical Theater Workshop, Radnóti Theatre Budapest, 25 - 27 March
The Song of the Goat Theater, one of Europe's most exciting and pioneering Polish theater companies, is holding a three-day physical theater workshop in Budapest.

The Song of the Goat Theater, one of Europe's most exciting and pioneering Polish theater companies, is holding a three-day physical theater workshop in Budapest.

The focus of the workshop at the end of March will be on "coordination" exercises that focus on seeking the organic connection and integration of movement and imagination, and fostering the development of a shared dynamic between partner and group.

The workshop, led by Grzegorz Bral, is organized by Sarolta Cultural and Public Space and hosted in the Keres Emil Rehearsal Hall of the Radnóti Theatre in Budapest.

Founded in 1996 in Wrocław, Song of the Goat Theater is one of Europe's most innovative theater companies. In addition to creating traditional rehearsal processes and theater performances, the company is committed to researching and innovating theater forms, acting and performance qualities. Continuing the tradition of Polish ensemble theater work, the company has created a unique way of performing through a constant exploration of acting craft and vocal and movement technique.

Its unique method of actor training seeks to integrate movement, sound, music and text, which is summed up in a kind of musicality that has a sensual, visceral impact.

The company is noted as one of the most exciting and innovative companies in the new avant-garde theater movement in Poland.

Grzegorz Bral is a director and educator, founder and artistic director of Song of the Goat Theater and the Brave Festival in Wrocław. From 1987 to 1992 he was a member of the Gardzienice Theatre Company, and from 2010 to 2012 he was artistic director of the Studio Theatre in Warsaw.

He has been awarded several prestigious prizes: SCOTSMAN FRINGE FIRST 2004 and HERALD ANGEL 2004 (for Chronicles). At the 2012 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, his production of Songs of Lear won the prestigious Fringe First Award, the HERALD ARCHANGEL and the MUSICAL THEATRE MATTERS AWARDS Special Prize. The play was also nominated for a Total Theatre Award.

Grzegorz Bral regularly holds workshops around the world, one of which is the Budapest training at the end of March; until 2012 he led the MA in Acting programme in collaboration with Manchester Metropolitan University, and since 2013 he has been teaching in collaboration with the Bral School of Acting in London. Pieśń Kozła's movement-based actor training method has been integrated into the curriculum of several major theater universities in the UK.

The exercises used during the three-day training focus on the search for the organic connection and integration of movement and imagination, and facilitate the development of a shared dynamic between partner and group.

Alicja Bral, Artistic Manager, will also participate in the training, who has been working as a dramaturg with Grzegorz Bral and Song of the Goat company composer Maciej Rychły since 2016. From 2008 to 2013, he worked with the Shakespeare Theatre in Gdańsk, after which he coordinated the Shakespeare "off" stage.

For three years between 2005 and 2008, he was co-creator of the Gdańsk Contemporary Dance Stage (DanceDesk.pl) in collaboration with the Baltic Sea Cultural Centre.
