Pepco in Hungary Loses Euro 15mn to Phishing Attack
A phishing attack on the Hungarian business of European discount chain Pepco Group has cost the company euro 15 million, Reuters reported on Tuesday.

It is unclear whether the amount can be recovered, but the company is co-operating with the police and banking partner.

So far, the attack does not appear to have affected personnel, customer or supplier data.

Pepco said it takes financial controls and IT security extremely seriously, adding that all systems and processes are currently being reviewed.

According to Pepco - which has 248 stores in Hungary - “everything is fine with the group's balance sheet; its liquidity is more than euro 400 million.
