Beaver Bites Woman in Budapest
A woman was bitten by a beaver in Budapest recently, RTL reported on Sunday evening.

The incident occurred while she was walking her dog on Népsziget and waded into the knee-high Danube due to the intense heat. After about 30 seconds in the water, the beaver bit her feet and quickly swam away.

She sought medical attention at a hospital for the bite and has since returned for vaccinations.

Locals have reported seeing beavers in the area for years, but this marks the first reported attack on a human in Budapest.

On social media the woman stressed that she did not blame the beaver, because she had entered the animal’s natural habitat. Several people commented that now it would be worth puting up warning signs in the area to avoid similar incidents.

Animal & Enviromental Rescue team at Újpest says it might have been a muskrat or nutria, since beavers can cause more serious injuries.
